WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
See how the pieces fit together.
The book connects technical foundations with practical questions: what changes along the radio path? What role does AI play? How do satellites extend the network?
01
Take part in technical discussions
Explain terms such as AI-native, ISAC and NTN, and describe their role in the network.
02
Prepare for technology decisions
Understand the demands that applications place on radio links, devices and infrastructure.
03
Assess new developments
Recognise a technology's stage of development and distinguish research goals, trials and standards.
INSIDE THE BOOK
14 chapters. One connected learning path.
The chapters build on one another. Fundamentals, examples and technical explanations also help you look up individual topics.
01 · UNDERSTANDING RADIO
The physical foundations
Frequencies, bandwidth, antennas and radio techniques: learn how a connection is established and which conditions shape its performance.
02 · CONNECTING THE WHOLE NETWORK
AI, sensing and satellites
Follow the interaction between computing and communications, how radio signals sense the surroundings, and how terrestrial and satellite networks connect.
03 · DEVICES AND OPERATION
Energy, security and resilience
The book explains device requirements, energy use and protection mechanisms in the context of operating a mobile network.
04 · THE PATH TO DEPLOYMENT
Standards, markets and business models
Explore standardisation, Germany's role and the technical and commercial steps towards services people can use.

READ A SAMPLE
A first look at 6G.
The opening moves from an everyday connection to the questions driving work on the next mobile generation. This English translation of the sample gives you a sense of the approach; the e-book itself is in German.
TRANSLATED SAMPLE · CHAPTER 1
What 6G is and why it is being developed
Imagine you are on a train, on a video call with someone who matters to you. The landscape passes outside, then the picture freezes. For a moment it seems almost absurd: we carry powerful computers in our pockets, yet a conversation on the move can still fail. When the next mobile generation is announced, a question naturally follows: what will actually improve this time?
Research into 6G, the sixth generation of mobile communications, starts with expectations like these and reaches much further. What if a radio network could also detect movement across a factory floor? If artificial intelligence (AI) and communications worked more closely together? Or if terrestrial networks and satellites complemented one another so that users noticed their boundaries less? These ideas are among the research and development goals for 6G. They suggest how much more the next generational change could involve than a faster download. [4, 9]
